The PAN Treetop Cabins are a unique accommodation project located in Finnskogen (The Finnish Forest) and the wild forests of eastern Norway, next to the Swedish border, consisting of two main cabins, each of which can accommodate up to six guests.

The Property
PAN Treetop cabins are a unique, eco-friendly and sustainable hospitality project which was launched in 2018 by the founders Kristian Rostad and Christine Mowinckel. The couple worked closely with the architect Espen Surnevik, who envisioned and created a very different type of accommodation standing out for its smart design and functional excellence. The cabins provide guests with exclusivity and comfort within rural surroundings and they successfully avoid landscape disruptions. The two stand-alone cabins stand on steel poles which allow them to remain positioned a few meters above the ground and offer the most amazing views. The cabins, which are made of refined wood and modern metallic materials, are located in the wild forest of Finnskogen in a 160,000 acres area which used to be the couple’s farm and which is also home to bears, wolves, lynxes, deers, capercaillies and elks. Of course, the property provides electricity and water as well as a great variety of modern facilities.
Sleeping Experience
The two cabins that are available for rentals guarantee for a convenient accommodation through their upgraded facilities such as the rain shower, a fully supplied kitchen with fridge and freezer, floor heating, a cozy fireplace and three separate sleeping quarters. Each cabin is 40sqm. large and provides comfortable beds and large windows with panoramic views over Finnskogen. As the natural light gently comes in the guests can have an optimum experience thanks to the angle and placement of the cabins. Looking into further detail, as we like to do, the zinc panels on the roof, which have been oxidised to become black, resemble the surface of a pine cone.
Location
Access to PAN Treetop cabins is usually by car as the cabins are located in the woods in the Eastern part of Norway, near the borders with Sweden, and just two (2) hours away from Oslo. During their stay the guests will relax and disconnect completely by enjoying a good night’s sleep in tranquility and by listening to the peaceful sound of the wind. Being located right in the heart of the forest encourages interactions with the animals that inhabit the area but it also awakens the appetite for other activities which can be arranged by the team of PAN Treetop cabins. Your closer store will be a grocery store (10km away), the boutique and artisanal shops in the town centre (15km away) but if you feel lazy food deliveries can also be arranged.
Experience
Bird-watching, hiking, wolf safari and fishing are just some of the experiences one can have during their stay there. Of course, you can always practice Yoga in nature or even book a Yoga class in the woods through the PAN Treetop cabins team, however, that is offered on selected dates upon request. There is also the option for an outdoor bonfire and barbecue throughout the year-excluding forest fire season which should be really amazing.
What we like about it
PAN Treetop cabins are an architectural miracle and a very innovative approach to hospitality and that’s what we love the most about it! Among other awards they have also won the AD Design Awards, Architizer A+ Awards, Dezeen Design Awards.
